Google Acquires Mobile Advertiser AdMob
When it comes to capitalizing on every step along the way in the world of web advertising, Google execs appear to be the chessmasters of that market.
How is that you ask? Consider the following: On November 6th, Google, Motorola and Verizon began sales of their new Droid cell phone; three days later, on November 9th, Google announces the purchase of the popular advertising platform on the iPhone, AdMob.
The purchase of AdMob by Google was a major win for the first investors of AdMob, including Sequoia Capital, Accel Partners, DFJ and Northgate Capital.
Key factors driving Google's acquisition of AdMob include the fact that mobile users utilize the internet more than any other type of user. In additon it appears as though mobile users spend more than an hour and a half per day on the web via their mobile devices.
About the only question regarding this acquisition is, why did Google wait so long?
