Twitter Mega Finance
So much for social networking-and Twitter in particular-not generating revenue!  For Drew Olanoff, fighting off cancer was just the beginning. He has recently auctioned off his Twitter account, named @drew, for $1,000,000.00, to none other than Drew Carey.
There is a catch however, Drew Carey's offer is only good if his @DrewFromTV account gets one million Twitter followers by the end of 2009.
According to Drew Carey, the bidding started for Drew Olanoff's account after  Carey's soccer team won a game. Carey mentioned that he was in an exuberant mood. As a result, when he saw Olanoff's advertisement, Carey initially bid $25,000, then raised it to $100,000. Finally, Carey raised the bid to $1,000,000.00, provided that Carey receives 1,000,000 subscribers to his own current Twitter account.
For his part, Drew Olanoff is donating the proceeds from the sale of his account to the LiveStrong foundation founded by Lance Armstrong.
For the record, Drew Carey's progress seems to be going well. As of October 13th, 2009, Drew has 76,000 followers.  Not bad for the short period of time that this project has been underway. For those who want to subscribe, you can do so at Twitter.com.
